https://www.rawstory.com/trump-2676704361/"Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Leo said on Saturday, according to the Associated Press. Enough of the display of power! Enough of war!
Trump responded to Pope Leo's criticisms on Sunday on Truth Social.
"Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy. He talks about 'fear' of the Trump Administration, but doesnt mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty feet apart," Trump wrote. "I like his brother Louis much better than I like him, because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesnt!"
"I dont want a Pope who thinks its terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country," Trump added. "And I dont want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because Im doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History."
"Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. Its hurting him very badly and, more importantly, its hurting the Catholic Church!" Trump continued.

(31,833 posts)At first glance, I read the and thought hes so stupid he thinks hes in charge of the Pope because Leo is The First American Pope. But I just dont think he wrote this. This seems written by someone who cares about religion trying to hide behind Trumps legendary idiocy. It seems written by somebody who thinks they know how to go about manipulating people on a religious basis. Somebody with a dog in that fight. Somebody who honestly kinda seems to hate Trump a little.
Who knows.

(5,386 posts)its still the largest religious denomination in the U.S. and the World. Tsf needs to be reminded of that loud and clear.
If I were the Pope, I'd tell tsf if he wants the Pope to stay out of politics, then the tsf and his minions need to stay out of religion, and quit pretending that their so called deep faith, is anything but a ploy, to fool the gullible into voting for them.

NEW: Pope Leo XIVs close ally Cardinal Robert McElroy received a standing ovation at the end of his homily, where he called on Catholics to take up civic action to help end the immoral war against Iran.
When we leave this church tonight, we must move beyond prayer. As citizens and believers in this democracy that we cherish so deeply, we must advocate for peace with our representatives and leaders.
It is not enough to say we have prayed. We must also act. For it is very possible that the negotiations will fail because of recalcitrance on both sides, and the president will move to re-enter this immoral war.
At that critical juncture, as disciples of Jesus Christ called to be peacemakers in the world, we must answer vocally and in unison:
No. Not in our name. Not at this moment. Not with our country.
