Sorry. I’m just having some feelings about being a nurse today. It’s a dirty, gross job much of the time, and for all the lip service about nurses being so respected and beloved, I must tell you, most days, that’s not the vibe you pick up.

Worked in hospitals for 25 years, in the accounting group. Worked with many nurses, and most are still on my permanent list of heroes. I'm adding you to the list because of your posts here.

The medical field has been male dominated, like, forever, but I think we've made just a millimeter or two of progress - still a long way to go.

Just one of today’s items: The family who basically called me stupid, because I couldn’t answer their questions about the menu and entertainments at a birthday party happening on the other side of the building.

Doctors are great but it has been the nurses who have given compassion and care to my son.
His hospice nurse is very special to us.

13. For what it's worth...

Most of the nurses I’ve dealt with as a patient have been exceptionally kind and caring. I always make a point of thanking them, which they seem to appreciate. I could never do what you do. Nurses are the unsung heroes of the medical system and they deserve recognition.
