Are their any or many DSA people here? I have always been a yellow dog Democrat

but some of my favorite politicians are Bernie, AOC, Mandami. Considering the fact that we are a two-party system in America do most/all DSA supporters vote Democrat?

I don't care for the Independent label because to me, it implies I could vote Republican in some instances and I just do not see anything attractive about conservatism or the GOP.

2. Not all. We have a DSA member who is running for congress who didn't bother to vote in 2024

She's running as a Democrat, but she's flakey as hell.

I'm afraid she's gonna win the primary and will lose the general. She's a sex therapist/astrologer running in a rural Latino district. (She's also white, but primary voters don't know that because she's using her ex's name) Not gonna do well in the general.

1) But she's flakey as hell.
2) I'm afraid
3) Not gonna doing well in the general

A) Those 3 dispositions above are surely winning strategies. (Sarcasm)
B) Would you like some tea leaves & tarot cards with your crystal ball?
C) What are you doing to help her win?

A brief word about DS:
Mixed economies are the most efficient economies, proven through research. DSA = basically calls for a return to a mixed economy. That a private sector based in free market Capitalism must be mated with a extremely robust public sector.
Complete privatization = bad
Complete socialization = bad

Why Johnny’s Running. An old school Democrat, Johnny is fighting for the voice working families deserve — for people like his mom, and his fellow deputies on patrol, and their children too. He believes hard work should be rewarded, healthcare should be affordable, and safety should be everyone’s priority. And despite what Republicans promised, they’ve lied every step of the way.

Johnny is stepping up to fight for the working class of Texas, because when working families are put first, Texas prospers. He’s running to make sure the people of District 35 see results… not in talking points, but in their wallets, their schools, and their neighborhoods.

He believes true public safety means more than tough talk, it means ensuring kids feel safe in school, families can access healthcare, and communities can thrive with affordable housing and economic opportunity. And it means doing the hard work in Washington to renew the American promise for everyone, no matter their background, zip code, or bank account.

I've got other candidates that I'm helping in the general. We have races that are more competitive that need our help. Tony Gonzales' seat has a good chance of flipping. I will be working with Katie Padilla Stout. We also have several flippable state house seats that I will be helping with.

She's running for congress by the way. All she's ever done is protest. If she wins the primary, she will be up against a popular GOP Latino who has served several terms in the state house. This is a seat that Greg Abbott drew to help Trump. A DSA candidate who is a sex therapist cannot win it. Sorry. I can just see the ads.......

I supported Greg Casar, who is DSA. But his seat is progressive. He got moved out of our town by Abbott. And now will represent Austin. I don't think even Greg Casar will support this one, however.

I strongly support several of our city council members who have been endorsed by DSA.

ROBUST regulation of capitalism and wealthy people actually paying taxes.

Anti trust laws being enforced would be a good place to start!

People are looking for a candidate that is the opposite of Trump these days and it tends to bring out extremism. In my youth, the draft, which personally affected young people the choices were clear. The Iranian war is dumb, dangerous, and antithetical to American values and morals (or should be) but it is just one example of things that are bad. The American government is being torn down internally and there is no room for any more irrationality in the Democratic Party. I'm hoping Bexar County Deputy Sheriff Johnny Garcia wins....it is a close contest.

4. Yellow Dog Dem Right Here

No such thing as a good repug.

But once Joe was pressured out by dem leadership, I choose to become an Independent.

Few politicians around here run Independent, some local elections here and here.

But felt that’s where I wanted to “plant my flag” so to speak.

Hope Dems can find their way back to supporting the working man and be visibly pro-union.

7. For the most part, DSA seems to be sorta opposite of Blue Dog

DSA is not a political party. It's also not an arm of the Democratic Party. It's supposedly "non-partisan". They do endorse.
Blue Dog is considered an arm of the Democratic Party, but many are worried that they will "flip" or become "independent". (Manchin)

Here's something funny. We have three DSA candidates who serve on our city council. I consider them progressive Democrats. They're doing a great job..

However, last summer in three other districts, DSA endorsed three moderate Democrats in runoffs (our races are non-partisan) because their opponents were too conservative...LOL...I thought that was funny. Two of the moderates won, and unfortunately the other one, lost to the conservative. The chapter didn't endorse the moderates because they were progressive. (Well actually one was, but she was running in a red district, and knew how to work in GOP circles also. She was a great candidate, who unfortunately lost)

They endorsed them at the last minute because their opponents were bad...I thought it was funny.

There are pockets and places where they "work" and can "work" with Democrats. New York City for example. They work best with Dems in blue, more progessive areas. However, they don't poll well if they try to run in red districts. I know someone who although wasn't endorsed by DSA, was pretty much aligned with them. She ran against Chip Roy for congress and did not do very well. Afterward, she got involved in SDEC (State Democratic Executive Committee) and disaster relief for Kerrville etc, and she won at "At-large" seat on City Council in Kyle, TX (Austin suburb). At-large districts are harder for progessives to win, but she won!

12. To me the dividing line seems to be the "cultural" issues that mostly divide our party.

Issues like religion, gender, and sex are distractions from things like affordability, healthcare, childcare, taxes, and housing - the things that affect everyone. I do not care who you love, who you screw, or what God you worship and consider it none of my business.
