Interesting take from the Rachel Maddow show, although Rachel probably meant it as humour.

Trump is handing all the shit assignments to JD Vance (Iran negotiations, stumping for Orban in Hungary), as well as attacking the Pope just as Vance is promoting his new book on becoming a Catholic, in order to force Vance to resign so that the Orange Hemorrhoid can name Jared 'Lurch' Kuschner his VP.

has no loyalty to anyone unless they are blackmailing him. JD is nobody to trump who probably sees him as a loser because he joined the Marines. Cutting him loose will be easier for trump than cutting a fart.

4. Love the fart analogy 😂. And then we could end up with VP 'Lurch' Kuschner and second lady Ivanka.

Trump doesn't want to share any glory. He also wants a scapegoat, as heentipned, to blame Iran failures on. And the fact that Vance was known to oppose the war (at first anyway) makes it all the more appealing to Trump to make Vance the point troll dealing with the Iranians.

Trump wants to control who gets to "succeed" him, and Vance won the poll at the recent CPAC, so to keep Vance and Rubio competing to grovel the lowest, Trump has to send Vance to rack up some failures.

Maybe she was joking about Vance resigning before midterms, but I don't see how that would help the rethugs any, come November.

9. Vance was definitely handed the trifecta of failure with Matt Gaetz, Viktor Orban, and the Iran negotiations.

Then Trump attacking the Pope just as Vance is promoting his book about how excited he is about becoming a new Catholic. I think Trump may have it in for Vance and what better way to shake things up ahead of the midterms than having your VP resign and getting to nominate a new one. Maybe Jared?

But I don't think we should underestimate Vance's ability to endure short-term utter humiliation in exchange for possible longer-term power.

If Vance just hangs on until (a) Trump croaks, or (b) Trump fails at another coup, or (c) Trump "has a heart attack" during some crisis or other -- he steps into the role that Peter "Not the Antichrist"® Thiel has been planning for JD for years now.

11. It's a strange dynamic.

Trump hates beards and Vance can't be seen in public without his. I don't know how these two ever ended up together.
Peter Thiel may not be the Antichrist but the billionaire agenda is evil to the core. Now that they've lost their 'autocratic model' Viktor Orban, I hope Hungary's example becomes contagious.
