Political analysts and observers were stunned on Tuesday after a new report indicated U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro's prosecutors were recently turned away from the Federal Reserve.
The Wall Street Journal reported, citing "a person familiar with the matter and a letter reviewed," that Pirro's prosecutors attempted to make a surprise visit to the construction site for the Federal Reserves headquarters renovation, but were turned away. Trump and Jerome Powell, the chairman of the central bank, have often sparred over the project. Trump has accused Powell of mismanaging the project and tried to remove Powell from his job over it. Powell has said Trump is misrepresenting the renovation's cost overrun.
"After speaking with construction workers, two of Pirros deputies were advised they couldnt access the site without preclearance, and they were given the contact information for the Feds legal staff," the Wall Street Journal reported.
