Updated: Gov. Scott Walker 4 donations = 1 million dollars in one week. $500,000 from Bob Perry

MADISON — Gov. Scott Walker collected $1 million from four donors over a one-week period earlier this week, including another $250,000 from conservative Texas financier Bob Perry.

Walker’s latest campaign finance reports filed with the state late Monday cover the period Dec. 11 through Jan. 17. Over those five weeks Walker amassed $4.5 million. Since the beginning of last year he has raised $12.1 million.

Walker is able to ignore the usual $10,000 limit per donor because state law allows those targeted for a recall to raise unlimited funds until an election is called. State election officials are currently reviewing 1.9 million petition signatures against Walker and five other Republicans.

The three others who gave Walker $250,000 each were Missouri residents.

Walker brought in another $250,000 from billionaire Texas home builder Bob Perry, meaning he has received $500,000 from Perry, who is known for financing the "swift boat" ads targeting 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry.

Walker also received $250,000 from David Humphreys of Tamko Building Products in Joplin, Missouri, and another $250,000 from Sarah Atkins of Tamko. www.tamko.com

Stanley Herzog of Herzog Contracting in Missouri gave Walker $250,000.

But Walker's campaign also sought to portray his support as having strong grass roots. The campaign said it received donations from 21,443 people, three-fourths of them donating $50 or less.

Some might call it the 1% party. Too bad the teapublican base can't figure this out.
