🚨 Virginia Supreme Court overturns Democrats' redistricting measure

The Virginia Supreme Court on Friday overturned the state’s redistricting ballot measure that would have given Democrats an edge in four House districts, dealing the party a massive blow ahead of the midterms.

The ruling now gives Republicans a clear lead in the gerrymandering efforts over the last year, which were further inflamed by the Supreme Court’s Voting Rights Act decision last week.

Virginia voters passed the measure last month. But the state’s top court ruled that legislative Democrats did not follow the proper procedure when rushing the referendum to the ballot.

Virginia Justice D. Arthur Kelsey, writing for the majority, said Democrats “submitted a proposed constitutional amendment to Virginia voters in an unprecedented manner” that violated state law.

But a Republican State controlled supreme court would have to respect the rules coming from The Supreme Court.

Oh, what a wicked web they weave.

does this all the time to its citizens. We vote to allow something, and republicans find a way to get rid of whatever it is the citizens voted in favor of.

Democrats have got to stop always trying to do the right thing. Our side just makes it so hard to partisan gerrymander, and with Republicans doing whatever they have to do to win, it is almost impossible to stop them. Democrats just crippled themselves. Until both sides play by the same rules, Democrats need to do whatever they can to win and screw the high road.

They will have both a referendum AND the approval of the Federal Courts.

They ended up giving Republicans more seats in New York.

Republicans started with 8 seats.
Dems gerrymandered them to 4 seats.
Court struck it down and instituted a new map, and Republicans ended with 11 seats.
