Here is a counter argument.

(151,645 posts)If it didn't, I'd run for a board seat. If you don't like your HOA, run for a seat on its board and help make changes.
That's simple, enough.

(38,839 posts)That isn't an issue of a neighbor putting up something I think is tacky.
It's an issue of (1) the "neighbor" erecting a monstrosity on jointly owned property (2) and charging me to do it.
Not the same as an HOA telling me I can't put a political sign, at my own cost, in my own front yard.

(22,928 posts)That is so perfect that I might just have to "borrow" it!
I never thought about it that way before, but DJT is deeply trashy. No class, no manners, no refinement, no moral standards. Very ironic, that a guy who was born rich and grew up with all the advantages and privilege that entails never acquired any of those traits. I guess that's what happens when a guy is given everything on a golden platter (no silver for him, everything has to be gold), and taught that the index of a person's worth is their wealth, period, full stop. Especially when that same guy is treated like a golden child by his father, who rescues him every time he fails and regularly replaces all the money he fritters away.
Trump acts like a giant child because he IS one. He never achieved adulthood in any sense but the legal one, because he didn't have to. He appoints lots of trashy people to work for him, because trashy is his "normal" and those are the kind of people with whom he is mist comfortable.

(368 posts)It's surprising how many condo homeowners don't care about attending any HOA meetings. I serve as one of three board members and the third spot remains vacant due to no candidates interested to run for that seat. Our quarterly Zoom meetings rarely have anyone attending so we barely have a quorum with only two board members and the property management representative attending. The thing that does get attention is when we vote for a dues increase or special assessment. Folks seem to lose sight of what it takes to properly maintain the common areas of our homes. Plumbing and roofing issues need fixing and they don't come cheap but some people complain about the expense being unnecessary. One owner even complained about our roofing funding by saying that his roof doesn't leak. He really thinks the roof above him shared by all neighboring condos is separate and not subject to leaking. So let's not pay for any repairs and let the building collapse so it costs even more to fix. Pennywise and pound foolish.
