Don't know if anyone watched Craig Ferguson's new series on CNN

"American on Purpose" is a subtle but firm jab at the immigration policies and philosophies of MAGA America. It is a reminder that immigration and the hope of better horizons is what gave the U.S. what greatness it might have possessed.

EDIT TO ADD: I see now that only this first episode was solely focused on immigration. While the title indicates that is likely to be a running theme, other material said future episodes will focus on topics like capitalism, freedom of speech, patriotism and individualism.

It was kooky enough to be good.

I especially liked that he seemingly gave Bill Maher the hook one night. It was during the Michael Jackson trial when Maher tried to run through a joke saying that from testimony it appeared Jackson serviced the victims, not the other way around.

"You don't have kids do ya?" Ferguson said. "I have a son. It makes me crazy, this Michael Jackson thing. The thought of someone just touching my kid- I would, I would go crazy."

Then Maher referenced a particularly vicious beatdown he suffered from schoolyard bullies. "If I had a choice between being savagely beaten and gently masturbated by a pop star- It's just me."

Ferguson suddenly broke for commercial with little warning. As the camera pulled back, you could see Ferguson leaning in closer to Maher and talk to him as Maher's hands became more animated in conversation. When they returned from commercial, Maher was gone.
