(26,606 posts)She was the first person of my parents' generation in our family to die. It was a long and very painful ordeal for her. She had an 11 year old son and was divorced.

I hope they find a cure.

(16,994 posts)I've had several friends and co-workers who have died from pancreatic ca. Most of them lived around six months after diagnosis, so this would give sufferers a year. I have one friend whose husband died from pancreatic cancer and then she was diagnosed with the same cancer a few weeks after his death. Fortunately, they caught hers early and were able to perform a Whipple procedure followed by radiation and chemo. She's considered cured now, but it's nice to know about this medication in case she ever relapses.

(13,405 posts)And after a bunch of chemotherapy its still there but not growing, she is on some type of pills now. I wish new drug was ready.
