The theme for the contest was SPRING. DU's photographers gave us excellent
images of Spring. They also gave us a close-run contest.
FIRST PLACE goes to:
Harkless Flat, Inyo National Forest, early May by mike_c

mike_c said ~ "This was the view from my campsite at Harkless Flat, about 7000 ft. in the Inyo National Forest, California, one afternoon in early May, 2019. That's the Sierra Crest in the distance, across the Owen's Valley. Those lovely clouds rained on me a bit during the night."
SECOND PLACE goes to:
Courtyard April Sunset by mnhtnbb

mnhtnbb said ~ "My living room window faces west, so I can easily monitor whether a particular sunset is going to light up the sky each night. Then I grab my phone and go out to snap 10-15 shots as the colors change, and from different spots in the courtyard. I liked this particular shot because the red in the blooming azaleas moves your eye from the sky down past the different textures of iron fencing to the stone and water in the fountain. I also love all the different shades of spring green in the bushes, grass, and trees. It all fades to darkness in a matter of minutes."
THIRD PLACE goes to:
Mountain Wildflowers by urbanhermit

Since we're run out of placements,
HONOURABLE MENTION goes to:
New Born by sinkingfeeling

sinkingfeeling said ~ "That is an old photo taken in Fayetteville, AR back in 2020. I was in the process of selling my house there and discovered this tiny deer in my front yard, all alone. It was so tiny I thought it was a rag in the grass. I worried that its mother wouldn't return, but she did, just as it was getting dark. The baby was there about 9 hours. I kept watch on it and saw it when it first stood and stumbled to a shaded spot."
The other FINALISTS were:
Early Swiss Spring by sinkingfeeling
Hello! by mnhtnbb
She Wore Blue Velvet by Johnny Noshoes
Sophie says you gotta stop and smell the flowers! by Diamond_Dog
Spring Thaw by Grumpy Old Guy
Speaking of whom ~ Grumpy Old Guy is set to host July's Contest.
The theme, chosen by Nittersing by virtue of winning last May's
contest, shall be ~
"TWO COLORS"
"I've taken to watercolors lately, so I've been all about the colors. Are they complimentary?
Or are they contrasting? Are they shaded, toned, tinted? Are they warm or cool?
I'd like to avoid big bursts of multiple colors and rainbows and such."
