Trump setting stage to declare emergency around midterms, former White House attorney says

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/trump-setting-stage-to-declare-emergency-around-midterms-former-white-house-attorney-says

Ty Cobb:

Well, I think tonight's speech is intended to add the predicate that he needs to declare an emergency at or about the time of the elections.

As you know, Steve Bannon and Todd Blanche have suggested that there will be ICE agents at the polls. I think that that's a virtual certainty. Whether that will include the National Guard or not, we don't know, but anything to -- anything to intimidate minority voters, particularly immigrant voters, and also I think anything that allows them to try to seize voting machines, as Trump wanted to do in 2020, but Bill Barr explained to him there was just no basis for it.

I think you will I think you will see him doing everything he can to try to prevent the peaceful transfer of power, the election of Democrats, and do whatever he can to remain in power and to keep his cronies in power, so that he can continue doing what he thinks he's allowed to do as president, which is anything he wants.

cultists, with zero knowledge that such actions are directly & demonstrably straight out of the "Vicious Dictators Taking Over Democracies Historical Playbook" (and those who DO know think they shouldn't need to care since it's "their guy" ) ...... I'm not 100% sure its not going to work

Now, I'm DON'T think that he'll be able to stop the States from holding their own elections, for positions within the state, but I cannot rule out the GOP-controlled Congress trying to refuse to accept any results from states that don't elect Republicans at the federal level, or that the Shady Six might not let them get away with it.

But we best ALL plan to get out in the streets if any bullshit like this happens (health permitting, of course).

This is happening. Time to get prepared for what we will do to push back when it all goes down.

as far as "traditional" politics goes, despite his "landslide" lies.

He knows his strongest position is as commander of: a) armed forces, b), armed paramilitary forces with 2nd amendment solutions.

I expect him to try armed intimidation. Hegseth has purged honest commanders, and the "militias" have never been honest, just power-mad. They set up armed watches at polls in 2020.

In Georgia he used the FBI to seize and contaminate 2020 ballots. They used a heavily-armed SWAT-style militarized raid, didn't they? He got away with that. Was that a test?

How can we stop armed confrontation at the polls?

As you point out there was a purge of leadership. I havent seen any recent polling of militay as far as trump, but they supported him over harris by 20 percentage points in the election. There was what...3 enlisted people willing to object in regard to the NG being depolyed in cities?

We made a big mistake when we didn't purge military trumpers after Jan 6. And other armed trumpers. So many missed opportunities.
