https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5973873-donald-trump-election-claims-ed-markey/amp/Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) late Thursday called on Congress to impeach President Trump after the president claimed during a primetime address that forces that stole the 2020 presidential election are still at work and threaten the integrity of the 2026 midterm elections.
Trump used words such as rigged and stolen, corrupt and cover-up and cited some recently declassified documents to support his alarming claims, though critics in both parties say he still failed to substantiate his central contention that U.S. elections are marred by widespread fraud.
Trump must be impeached for undermining and subverting our free and fair elections, Markey declared on the social platform X.
And when he sends ICE agents to the polls, then we must turn civic action into civil disobedience and take to the streets. Sit in. Protest. Withhold our labor. Everything must be on the table, Markey urged.

(8,338 posts)But i don't think you could get everyone in America to do it. Fear for job loss, actual loss of wages when we can't even now afford food. Plus nothing went "boom"... those are things that generally drive us together. I still think it's an excellent idea... but we can't get that magic tipping point number in protests
Doesn't bode well for general strike.

I dunno... maybe enough people woke up?

(4,410 posts)At one of the National Conference's on Media Reform, Ed Markey was one of two members of Congress who by that time had worked for years to ensure that communities had access to local nonprofit community radio stations. In late 2010, the Local Community Radio Act was finally passed and signed into law.
Some lawmakers are show horses, others are work ponies. Markey is the latter and a true public servant.
My town in Texas is one of a couple of thousand has a nonprofit that was able to apply and get a license to broadcast. We are in flash flood alley so it was badly needed. No Austin media covered our county's issues and emergencies well at all.
Thank you to Ed Markey.
