Shit may really hit the fan in the middle east

Al Jazeera's live updates says Iran has hit desalinization plants and energy infrastructure in Kuwait. 2 out of their 8 water plants have been hit

Iran issued this warning

"We have begun to implemented a phased plan, which will end with the complete destruction of all regional energy and water-purification infrastructure, if the U.S. aggression against Iran does not immediately stop."

(lol gotta say, these perilous Iran updates barely get any replies, meanwhile something about mel gibson gets 70)

Trumps PREVIOUS statements
When Mr. Trump ran for president in 2024, he boasted of starting “no new wars,” and asserted that if Kamala Harris won, “she would get us into a World War III guaranteed,” and send the “sons and daughters” of Americans “to go fight for a war in a country that you’ve never heard of.”

Mr. Trump, 2012: “Now that Obama’s poll numbers are in tailspin — watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate.”

Mr. Trump, 2013: “Remember that I predicted a long time ago that President Obama will attack Iran because of his inability to negotiate properly — not skilled!”

Mr. Trump, 2016: “We’re going to stop the reckless and costly policy of regime change.”

Mr. Trump, election night 2024: “I’m not going to start wars. I’m going to stop wars.”

The Iranian strategy is to destroy fellow Middle Eastern energy and water infrastructure? I'm not sure I understand that. It's like they are holding other countries as hostages. Which, I guess, is something we should expect from Iranians.

in understanding conflicts with and in this region keeps us making the same mistakes over and over. A culture like the West, that operates from the view of death from conflict being a bad thing, getting into a war with cultures that view death from conflict as martyrdom fail to understand that one side will be more culturally motivated to end the dying than the other.

It is this attitude that prevails in the West of looking at others and situations on the basis of how we would react rather than the reality of how they will react. Like thinking everybody should "assimilate" and become "Westernized". The great arrogance of the West in believing everybody wants to or should be like them. When others don't see it the way the West wants it they get treated to spies, destabilization, overthrow and violence.

countries in the Middle East are nothing new and stretch back over the centuries and have been about power, religion and control. The West conduct over more than a century, mainly the UK and US, has always played factions against each other and the ones they hate and kill today are the ones they beg for help tomorrow. The problem is that for over 100 years Western oil greed/control is always at the heart of Western policy and actions. The governments of the West truly don't give a damn about the daily life or survival of people in this region except in a larger perspective of that oil greed.

The people in those countries also know this is the way of the West and they have plenty of history and examples of lies from the West and reasons not to trust or believe anything the US/UK etc. say or put in writing. They know from experience about agreements broken before the ink is dry.

There are tons of various historical factions that jockey for power and control in areas all over the region. For example the area of Balochistan is hugely important but notice that it almost never gets discussed in Western media. However the West arms this faction and that against this one or that and then when the West wants to go a different direction they turn on the ones they called "friends". That kind of conduct, along with religious bigotry towards Islam and the various "flavors" like Shia and Sunni, contributes to the view that the West can never be a friend, should never be trusted and should only be viewed as something to be used.

Surface water—primarily fed by snowmelt from the Alborz and Zagros mountain ranges—is captured in large reservoirs like the Lar, Latyan, and Karaj dams. This surface runoff is essential for major urban centers such as Tehran and industrial regions in the southwest.

Most people don't really grasp what a real powder keg we all are sitting on. They believe the worst case is that gas prices might go up 50 to 75 cents a gallon for a few months, and think that even that is unlikely.

Iran is run by zealots and hard core militants who have already accepted the likelihood that they face possible death themselves, and have nothing further to fear. Adverse domestic public opinion? That's Trump's problem to face, Iran's leaders have already mowed down tens of thousands of Iranian protesters in order to maintain power. They have the guns and have shown a willingness to use them.

Now Iran realizes they can throttle the world's oil supply using a fleet of inexpensive drones, and that all of their enemies will deplete their air defense capacity long before Iran runs out of drones. Iran will not give up their leverage now without a land invasion which Trump is loath to launch before the mid terms. And the world will use up it's oil reserves long before that. The Gulf states will be set back by at least generation if a no holds bar wars breaks out there. Iran was set back by a generation a generation ago, they have the least to lose now. It the energy infrastructure throughout the region is attacked there will be no bouncing back before a global depression sets in.

And that's just looking at all this through an economic lens. The human suffering will be immense, and not limited to Iran.

Their goal is the fear factor, keep other countries from shipping out of fear which is what the US and Iran has done. The instability of both regions will very soon hit the boiling point. Ukraine is the only country who is doing it for a good reason though.

That lack plus 128+ recs indicates approval of the Iranian attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Gulf nations which have not attacked Iran.

So we turn maybe to much more superficial subjects and events.

Iran launched a wave of attacks on U.S. allies Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain as the U.S. military hit Iran, in the seventh consecutive day of clashes.

Two U.S. service members were killed in action in Jordan while defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, the U.S. military said Saturday, as the Middle East conflict intensified following the collapse of a ceasefire deal.

Two U.S. service members were killed in action in Jordan while defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, the U.S. military said Saturday, as hostilities escalated a week after the collapse of a U.S.-Iran ceasefire.

A third U.S. service member is missing in action, according to a statement from U.S. Central Command, which oversees U.S. forces in the Middle East.....

Iranian state media reported that strikes had continued to hit critical infrastructure, including bridges and a desalination plant in Jask, a southern county. Reports cited the head of the local water utility company saying that 10,000 people would be left without water.....

Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said Saturday that there had been an attack on a power and desalination plant in the country. Coming after a similar attack on Friday, the strike raised fears about escalation and the potential impact on desert nations in the Persian Gulf, which rely heavily on desalinated water.

Kuwait’s Defense Ministry said ballistic missiles and drone attacks had been intercepted, but that oil, electricity and water facilities were affected, with fires causing “significant damage” to infrastructure.

If trump commits war crimes by attacking civilian infrastructure, Iran will respond by hitting similar infrastructure in our allies. All of these actions would affect the flow of oil even if the Strait of Hormuz is somehow opened.
