Regarding Michael Moore and Facebook

Yo Mike!

As someone who has managed the social media presence of several political organizations and companies, I've often made the observation that too many of us put all our eggs in Facebook (and Twitter.) At anytime, Facebook can kick that egg basket over for any reason - no matter how lame. Why would anyone want to rely so much on one company for our messaging, a company who's number 1 goal is to profit from us?

Use your resources, Mike, and build a social media platform for progressives from the ground up. Fill it full of activist opportunities and strategic planning groups. Make everything posted immediately share-able on Facebook and Twitter to build your brand. Take it beyond what the Obama campaign accomplished with their 'dashboard.' I'd be willing to bet you can make it a success. Hell, I'd probably invest in it.
