Michael Nodianos of Steubenville ‘Rape’ Video Drops Out of OSU, Citing Threats

Jan 7, 2013 6:00 PM EST

After being barraged by threats, Michael Nodianos has dropped out of Ohio State University, at least for now, says his lawyer.

The Ohio State University student who has found himself at the center of a rape case in Steubenville, Ohio, has dropped out of school after being bombarded by threats in the wake of a video posted online in which he is seen making crude jokes about the case.

Michael Nodianos hasn’t been charged with a crime in connection to the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl by two members of the Steubenville High School football team in August. The case ignited a firestorm of controversy and national attention after hackers affiliated with the group Anonymous began breaking into the websites and email accounts of several football players and locals. The hackers believed these people had gotten off too lightly.

Nodianos was one of the targets of the hackers, whose Twitter handles are @KYAnonymous and @justbatcat. In a video posted on the Internet, supposedly filmed shortly after the alleged attack, Nodianos repeatedly refers to the alleged rape victim as “dead” repeatedly.

“Why isn’t she waking up? She’s dead,” the teenager says.

“They peed on her. That’s how you know she’s dead, because someone pissed on her,” he says and, later in the video, “She is so raped right now.”

I'll just say, I'd be even more worried about our society than I already am if there were no threats against these men. I don't think anyone should act on them, don't get me wrong, but the idea that people are so outraged about this that threats are being made is really sort of a good thing.

The sort of self-important asshole who threatens people they see in the news is not a boon to any society.

But I don't think the reason is related to my being an a%*hole. He is a threat to our society as I perceive it. I think it would be justified as a reaction to what I saw him do on his video. If he lived in my vicinity, I would be alarmed and feel threatened. Self-important assholes may be quick to judge what they don't understand. Oh, and I do wonder if this good news is actually OS giving him the option to leave or be kicked out. Cause after such a video where he admitted taking part in the rape, I don't see how they could let that POS stay. He should be charged like the others.

Apparently he didn't get enough smacks in the ass growing up.

He obviously showed he never learned much about respect, humanity, and right or wrong when he was "interviewed". THAT is very easy to understand.

Fuck him - people are angry and deserve to be. There is NO taking back what those scum did. Maybe next time he'll (they'll) think a bit more, AND avoid surrounding himself with other assholes.

or drugs that they should not have . He is one of those. It is alleged she was given a date rape drug.

This is not the first time this has happened in this town. It is a football town that is said to be run by a corrupt sheriff and police dept with school officials looking the other way. The football players are allowed to cheat with the teachers allowing it.

The town has been known to have been in trouble with the law before. It has been known to be involved with the criminal element.

Is this what small towns in Ohio are like? Perhaps

He posted that he was going to get revenge a month before this happened. It looks like the whole thing was premeditated. The special prosecutor who is from Ohio state has a son who has apparently been accepted on the Steubenville police force. The local prosecutor, whose son had a party that night and the girl was assaulted at that house, apparently has a cozy relationship with the state prosecutor. You can not make this shit up. The football coach is now resigning, after threatening the reporter from the New York Times, gangster style.

Unbelievable but there may be a movie made out of this.....or 60 minutes or 20/20..
Should be ....

The corruption in the town is very scary..Apparently on another DU post a young woman in her 30s now said she was raped in 95 and the prosecutor then said there were not enough of evidence. and the sheriff said she was just looking for a good time..

convicted him more honestly than any jury could. His own mouth said the words, and to pretend he's innocent after he admitted his role in this heinous crime is just as irresponsible as he is.

He opened his own mouth of his own volition. Nobody pressured him or forced him to put it out there for the world to see. Again, his own obnoxious mouth and clearly huge ego got his own self into the predicament he is in.

and revoke his scholarship because he isn't a scholar any more than he acts like a human being with decency on the weekends. This piece of human excrement is getting what comes to him for his callous disregard for any other human being besides his own heartless self.

as of today, they only have 4 games scheduled for this coming season. As word spreads the remaining schools may be looking to get out of their games too. Pretty had to keep a program going when nobody will come.

Any community that this guy calls home will be an unsafe community for others to live in.

and take away his athletic scholarship.

Guess they figure if he comes back and makes their team a smashing success, the $$$$ vaue of good football or whatever sport can pay the settlements for any women he rapes while an Ohio State student.

This is the kind of math I suppose they do now. Cost/benefit ratio and all that nice stuff. All cut and dried and calculated.

And so here we see privilege in action.

Here's a math problem for you:

You have ten Ohio State Freshmen. Five male students, five female students.

If one of the ten gets gang-raped, it can lead to quitting school, committing suicide, and life long problems, perhaps even an inability to earn a living for one of those ten students.

Statistically, which of the ten has a greater chance of being gang-raped if Nodianos is allowed to return to Ohio State to make the team look good?

Do the students who are least likely to be gang-raped have any advantage, even though they are repulsed by gang rape and would do all they could to stop it?

They couldn't kick him out because he was not charged with anything, nor was a student when the incident happened. He wasn't a football player, and the sport he was in isn't a money maker. I think the guy has it coming to him as he slimball, jerk sociopath, but I am not on favor of school bowing to political pressure to kick kids out without their being charges or evidence for a investigation-- that could lead to abuse. That being said, things are underneath the radar-- he left because of threats is a cover. He was pushed out, kind of like when a politician 'resigns' when we all know he/she was actually fired.

herself. In fact, I expect that she has. In 1974 in South Bend, Indiana, a certain 18-year-old girl had the same experience. "Town Without Pity." Absolutely pathetic!
