A major conservative candidate for Federal office has threatened my life.

VanderBeek ran for the Senate seat in Nevada in 2012 as the Constitution Party candidate. He received nearly 5% of the vote -- four times the margin of victory between the Republican and Democratic candidates.

That would make the difference between whether it was a threat or just blowhard machismo.

You riled him up beyond his norm. Which is darn extreme as it is. Did you delete your post?

Actually, depending on the interchange, you could get him banned from YouTube. Why would you hang out and argue with such a wackjob anyway? Trying to provoke him?

The exception was a comment I made about nukes which looks pretty bad out of context, but which refers to the idea that in a contest between crazy guys with assault rifles and a global superpower with nukes, the former is probably not going to win.

he doesn't stand a chance of getting elected. If he was smart he'd lay low and get elected to the state legislature first. That's how it's done.

make a note who you speak with and date and time you called. Record the conversation to have back up. Not that you will use it. But just in case. Make sure you tell and show some of your friends that way your covered. It never hurts to be prepared. Maybe you can talk to a lawyer for advice before you do anything.

The few times I've been involved in threats like this, my first move is ALWAYS to report it to the police. That way, IF something happens, I've got backup if I have to defend myself.

been threatened but I have learned working for the military we always had to remember when we called someone that you didn't even know but wanted information was to make sure you get important info such as name, date, time and topic you were talking about. Always found it helpful threw the years.

the statement is if you come to his house to take away his guns he will kill you for your effort.
Don't make the effort and the "threat" doesn't exist.

But, that is how I read it.

He's warning what would happen if he was approached for his weapons, not that he's going to come after anyone.

Refer him to a reputable mental health professional to deal with his paranoia and his Rambo-wannabe-schizophrenia.

Sounds like a typical right wing blowhard doing the cliche "I'm so macho with my guns" thing. On yahoo comment section, they are a dime a dozen.
