6. I feel sorry for the kids and the dog, but that's about it. She made her choices.

I always find it ironic when someone says "the gun wound up in the wrong hands.". It's never in the wrong hands, until it is, and then it is too late.

4. "Live by the gun, die by the gun"

I don't know if Tupac Shakur said that first, but I know he get a lot of credit for saying it.

If only these people had a gun. Then they could have defended themselves.

I feel saddened and sorry for the family that they left behind, but I find it hard to feel sorry for these people in their own right. It all comes back to the saying in my post's tittle.

5. The flaw in the argument

For almost a month now, gun advocates have been making a stronger-than-usual effort to push the idea that guns prevent crimes. The statements by Kelly point out the flaw in this argument: the majority of crimes do not announce themselves beforehand, they come as a surprise and therefore either the gun would not prevent the crime, or, worse, it may have caused an escalation of it.

8. They're like people who think they can run away from an earthquake

People who think they would just "punch the shark in the snout."

People who think they will simply throw themselves clear of the crashing train.

Idiots.

Every gun nut has fantasies of stopping one of these mass shooters. Think about that. They sit around imagining themselves blasting away at one of these guys, while everyone else (the weak ones) fall by the wayside. Every single gun proponent you speak with has had that fantasy (they of course try to deny it - but they know, and so do we). They're demented.

I wish I had a $100 bill for every time I've seen that sweaty "I may not live through it, but at least I'll take some Bad Guys with me" bit of wishful thinking, down in the DU Gun Control/RKBA group.
