Congressman Kevin McCarthy offered his sympathies: Taft shooting.

There are so many places I want to go with this post but first I'll start with what happened. A student shot two people with a shotgun this morning in a science classroom.

This community is in a very red district across a range of mountains from my community. Their Congressman is Kevin McCarthy the majority whip in our House of Representatives. This is what Kevin's stands have been on the Second Amendment:

Here is what he had to say about today's incident:

Congressman Kevin McCarthy offered his sympathies.
"I am deeply saddened and troubled by news of the shooting. Judy and I offer our prayers to the victims, their families and the entire Taft community," McCarthy said in a statement.

Really Kevin! Is this the best you can come up with?

Well, all I can say is I'm glad that all that student was able to get his hands on was a shotgun. I can imagine how many more victims there would have been if he had gotten his hands on a high powered assault weapon. Also, there apparently is an armed guard at the high school who couldn't stop the student before he was able to get some shooting done.

I personally really believe that the problem is access. I personally believe weapons should be checked into a gun depot away from private homes when not in use. However, I would settle for a gun safe where only the registered owner had access.
