It's an entertainment product. The players should be able to play as well as they can and recover from injury as fast as possible so they can do what they get paid ludicrous amounts of money to do, entertain people. Sports is show business the same as broadway shows or a Black Sabbath concert. Pretending that sports are something different or special or pure is ridiculous. They should allow or even encourage performance enhancers.

Why wouldn't you want your $20 million player to play as well as possible and be on the field/court/ice as much as possible?

That's my take anyway.

A bit of coke before you go onstage for energy, a bit of weed for inspiration, whatever helps. Would Poe be Poe without his medicine? Would Hemmingway? Stephen King?

I love Bill Hicks' take on music and drugs.

It's no different in sports.
