What if they exercised their Second Amendment rights to the extent that Tea Partiers do?
What would be the NRA's reaction?

(4,558 posts)Okay, then let me amend my question and ask what if Muslim Americans conspicuously armed themselves with an in-your-face attitude, and called themselves militias, and claimed that they were prepared to overthrow a tyrannical US government if necessary (just like non-Muslim gun nuts do)?

(66,393 posts)manner as the teabaggers, the NRA would be calling for arms restrictions so fast, it would make your head spin.
Don't forget, their sentiments boil down to: "You can't take MY guns" not "You can't take THEIR guns".
Bigots don't experience cognitive dissonance.

(40,168 posts)I would have to disagree. Although there are people from all walks of life who believe in "gun rights" each individual is different and therefor have different beliefs. Your statement simply blankets the Conservative populace into one notion and doesn't account for individuality. I believe you need to rephrase your rather close minded statement.

(66,393 posts)Right-wingers get hysterical when they see a dark-skinned person wearing a turban or a hijab on the bus, for crying out loud; never mind in a crowd of people bearing guns and waving flags of countries we don't like very much.
The tea-klan worked themselves into paroxysms of brainless fury over a community center for Muslims. Imagine if it had been a gun store/shooting range...
I'll stop lumping right-wingers into one monolithic category when they do...

Glad to have you aboard.
Just a bit of newbie advice: If you're new here, and have only made four posts, and two of those were sympathetic to the right, you're liable to be labeled a troll. That's just how it is.
Aristus didn't mention anything about "the Conservative populace." (S)He specifically was speaking of the NRA. Nothing more.

(30,058 posts)There is a hate towards people who looks like they might be from the Middle East and results on profiling. Another reason why there should regulations on weapons is they do fall in the wrong hands. I am sure in certain areas of the US if people of color was to walk down the streets with weapons strapped on their backs there would be action taken. Yes, there is a difference in who is carrying the weapon.
It's sad but true that because of stereotypes in this country a person of color or minority for example may be looked at "wrong" if they were to do and exercise the same constitutional rights a white upper class citizen were to do the same thing. I understand the sensitivity to taboo subjects like this since 9/11 but I think this country needs to overcome these separations and work more in unison.

Also, a lot of right wingers and gun nuts see Timothy McVey as a hero.
