Connie Mack in Newtown: ‘Impossible’ for gun control to stop ‘bad people’ so don’t even try

Former Republican Rep. Connie Mack (FL) traveled to Newtown, Connecticut on Monday — exactly one month after 20 children were gunned down in the second-deadliest school shooting in U.S. history — and insisted that Congress should not attempt gun control legislation because it was “impossible” to stop violence through new laws.

“I don’t think you’re ever going to stop bad people from doing bad things,” Mack told CNN’s Soledad O’Brien. “And we can try to legislate it away, but it’s just not going to happen. They’ll find other ways. Bad people who want to harm others will find a way to do it and we can continue to pass other laws, but all that does is restrict law-abiding citizens of this country’s rights.”

Did he really have to go to Newtown to deliver his standard anti-regulatory bullshit?

He doesn't live there and should never have shown his face if this is the best statement. ENOUGH. We have to say this over and over again and never let it stop until there are sensible restrictions on weapons. The NRA only has their industry to blame for the weapons.

when it comes to a choice between dead children or no assault weapons they will pick dead children every time.....

human life means nothing to them is they can't have their little death dealing toys.

8. Easy access and ability to take a gun on street, means a good person can do a bad thing

it's the gun and the bullet that are bad.
there is ZERO good reasons for a gun or bullet

all have the ability to instantly turn a good person into a bad person
and a good person into a dead person

It is all about reframing.

Guns and the NRA are dead.
However, it may still take 5 to 10 years for the final breathe, but they are dead.

let's make it sooner rather than later.

guns and bullets kill
it's not the person, but the gun and bullet that do it.

reframe the issue.

1) Why in the world is Mack up in Newtown; and
2) Why in the world is he being interviewed on CNN about his opinion on gun control?

O’Brien observed that there was an analogy between gun control and traffic laws because making speeding illegal did not stop all drivers from driving too fast.

“I sort of see a similar analogy, you could create a number of laws that would help at least mitigate some of the potential for problems,” she explained.

Most people will more or less obey the laws of the land and the public will be safer for it.
