Hand Grenades? Well, allrighty then!

OK then.

A Sheriff in Kentucky, Denny Peyman of Jackson County, says he feels a moral obligation to not enforce any new gun laws as part of his duty to protect the American Constitution. Okay. Not sure that's a moral obligation when he has access to the federal and state courts to object to any laws on Constitutional grounds ... Oh, excuse me. He also says, as sheriff, he has more power than the Federal and state governments. He can tell federal and state officials to leave his county and they have to obey him, according to his interpretation of the laws that govern our country and his state.

“The sheriff has more power than the federal people,” Peyman said Saturday at a press conference. “They need to go back and study that. We’re a commonwealth, I can ask the federal people to leave and they have to leave. I can ask state people to leave and they have to leave.”

Hmmm. Never knew there was a clause in either the US or Kentucky Constitutions that made sheriffs so all-powerful. But this is the kicker, for me. He said people should be allowed, under the 2nd amendment to carry grenades if they need them. No seriously, he did.

Peyman said he was even open to allowing people to own hand grenades “if it was necessary for self protection.”

Well Skippy, sign me up for M1 Abrams tank and some FIM-92 Stinger surface-to-air missiles. I mean, we get a lot of funny looking helicopters flying overhead in my neck of the woods. Might be someday they might prove to be controlled by the UN's new world order. Wouldn't be prudent of me not to be armed with the weapons I need. I'm sure Sheriff Peyman would agree. Videos of his press conference can be viewed at Raw Story.

9. In Idaho, our illustrious Congressthing Helen Chenoweth, introduced her Yokel Sheriffs

Bill. At least I think it was her. That would have been around 1990 I think. That was meant to force federal authorities to notify sheriffs of any action and maybe even force them to get the sheriffs approval.

I laughed at that one. So any good 'ol boys in cahoots with the sheriff in some illegal activity, could sleep better at night.

3. Why would a sheriff automatically assume ...

... that those heavily armed civilians wouldn't be shooting (or lobbing grenades) at him and his people?

4. Grenades are lousy defensive weapons.

Claymores would be much more effective and better suited to such purposes. Grenades are really better for offensive actions, and should not be considered for self defense except as a last resort.

(The RKBA crowd has taught me to quibble well.)

Sovereign Citizen whack jobs all say sheriffs are the most powerful law enforcement in the land.

When they merged with birthers they kept saying any sheriff can arrest the president and there's nothing the secret service can do about it.

Yes, they are that nuts, and this sheriff is spouting their bullshit.

it's like a bunch of people are failing to cope with modern civilization, and a democracy with 300 million people in a global economy, etc, etc, and are (consciously or unconsciously) saying "fuck all that, I find it much more comforting to pretend we're all a bunch of villages again." Or maybe even just tribes.

8. According to Scalia the word "bear" in the 2nd means "to carry" as in lift and hold.

(Fox News interview) Therefore any weapon that a human is capable of lifting is covered by the 2nd: Stinger missiles, hand grenades, anti-tank rockets, RPGs etc.

Interstate highway runs through this county? Don't maintain it.
County airport? Remove the FAA and all equipment.
Post office? Close it.
After all it was a representative of that county that asked the federal people to leave.
So, they left!

Hows that working out for ya sheriff.
