This good samaritan saved a child's life. Why was she released to a stranger?

http://www.philly.com/philly/news/breaking/20130115_Missing_girl__5__abducted_from_school_found_in_park.html

A 5-year-old girl abducted from a West Philadelphia elementary Monday was found early this morning barely dressed and crying in an Upper Darby playground, say police.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said that Nailla Robinson, taken by an unidentified woman in a black Muslim-style face covering from the Bryant Elementary School just across the border in Philadelphia, was found about 4:40 a.m. today.

Authorities say they believe the child was targeted, but did not know the woman who abducted her.

The man who found the little girl, Nelson Mandela Myers, told reporters Tuesday afternoon that she was huddled underneath the slide — shivering and wet.

"I asked: 'Where’s your mother and father?' and she said, 'I don't know.' Someone was chasing her and (she) ran," Myers, 27, said. "I just kept rubbing her. It was cold. ... She wasn’t crying. She was just shivering and saying she was cold."

Myers, a sanitation worker, was on his way to 69th Street Terminal for work in Norristown when he heard a cry from the playground at 69th St. and Patterson Ave. — a short distance from where Nailla abducted.

I see from later news that "black" modifies "face covering", not "muslim." marybourg Jan 2013 #7

Exactly. This sounds like a child rape situation where the rapists exploited face covering by Muslim riderinthestorm Jan 2013 #8
Or not. Let's find out. Comrade Grumpy Jan 2013 #9

Now I know what it looks like and feel vindicated in my long-standing opposition to face covering in public.

Mrs. 1StrongBlackMan and I, drilled on daughter with a code word. We told her that if her Mom or I could not pick her up, anyone - and we meant anyone - that came to get her would have the code word. And, if the person did not have the code word, she was not to leave with them.

One day, Both Mrs. 1StrongBlackMan and I were caught up at work and couldn't pick BabyGirl up, so I called her uncle. About 20 minutes after BabyGirl was supposed to be picked up, I got a call from the uncle ... BabyGirl refused to leave with him because he didn't have the word, despite his being on the sign-out list and the school administrators insisting that it was okay for him to pick her up.

It's a beautiful thing when you get proof that your kids actually listen to what you say.

We never actually had to use it, but we had one just in case. We were told not to go with ANYONE (stranger or not) who didn't know the code word.

In fact a masked man walking into the school would have almost certainly resulted in a panicked 911 call from the school.

I mean, really. Lets just wait..... "found the next day, barely dressed". What's to worry about? Why take precautions right?

Hopefully the next people they find will be the bastards who kidnapped her.
