I was helping a friend apply online for a job at a big-box and, yes, they asked The Question.

(25,941 posts)but the way I interpret it, the ones administering this test would prefer to see candidates disagree with the question. After all, taking on a new job is in a sense 'the unknown,' so it reflects negatively on someone who doesn't like the task of adjusting to new situations.
Just my 2 cents.

(8,492 posts)I would see a candidate's 'disagree' as irrational. To fear the unknown is to embrace exploration. To conquer the unknown. I hate change...enough that it can make me physically ill. To counter that, when faced with change, I will find a way to creatively weave it into my regular routine. It is then no longer 'unknown', but familiar and I have learned something new.
If I tell two candidates to head into a pitch black cave after telling them there 'could' be vicious animals or 'might' be bottomless pits, I'll pick the one that doesn't go rushing in. Unless, of course, the other goes running in the opposite direction. My hope would be that one would choose to ask me for a flashlight.
So there.

Tell your friend I'm sorry that he/she is being put through such a ridiculous process in order to work at Lowe's. Unless, of course, they're interviewing to fill the position of company seer.

Kind of like some online MBTI tests I've taken.

Try the test I linked to in my first reply, I was surprised at how well it indicated my own personality.

(15,689 posts)and I didn't accept it. So I guess you could say I don't accept the Unknown. If on the other hand, the Unknown was properly introduced first, instead of accosting me while I was driving, then I might like it. But since it chose to be impatient and rude, I guess we'll never know about that.
