Gallup And USA Today Sever Polling Partnership

The USA Today/Gallup poll is no more.

Gallup will no longer conduct polls for USA Today, the two organizations announced on Friday, per the Washington Post.

If they hadn't, Nate Silver's model wouldn't have worked. As he said at the time, if the polls turned out to be way off, then his predictions would be way off too. Gallup stood out because it was so far off the general trajectory.

And when Frank (Stanton?) would be on Marketplace telling KR about the latest Gallup poll, I often thought something didn't quite sound right. And every time the numbers seemed a bit off from less biased polls, he'd always try to explain the methodology used for Gallup polling. And after the election, I'm sure many people wondered when Gallup would be considered a little out of touch with the electorate. I know I did.
