There was an incident when my daughter was in HS where 1 kid in her history class had a gun (in his lap under the desk) and another kid had bullets (hidden under some papers on his desk). Thankfully, one of the boys sitting near them saw and texted his mother who worked at a different high school. She contacted the affected school's resource officer who called for backup. Daughter said they got both kids when the fire alarm went off. I guess they didn't want to descend on the classroom not knowing if any bullets were already in the gun and had to think of a way to get them out of the room. Parents received a note about the incident.

One of her other classmates turned out to be the school arsonist and valedictorian and was expelled right before graduation. All of her classes were Cambridge Program, AP and Honors. She thought it would be better to be in classes where the kids actually wanted to be there and would work. If that was the case, I'd hate to have been in the other classes. This is from the less troubled of the 3 high schools in our area.

I was so glad to see her graduate and move on to college!

We have one more munchkin who will be attending the same high school in 2 years. UGH!
