it can really be frightening when backing down hard on a fish. Expert captains are well worth their pay. The outcome can be very costly if the captain loses control of the helm while backing down hard, as appears to be the case here. You can't win them all.

10. The crew are safe. The people taking the photos picked them up.

The Marlin probably has a couple hundred yards of line dragging behind it. The hook will rust out in a couple of weeks if it doesn't come out before then.

I feel a sense of "justice happened here" when the wildlife get the better of their human predators.

Props for the Loria reference. Even though they suck, I'll watch 80-90% of their games. Go Fish

14. They're my local baseball team, so I gotta love 'em.

I experienced first hand 2003 (attended several playoff games) and that was an awesome run. No one expected anything out of that team, either, so maybe there's still hope for 2013.

Plus I grew up an Orioles fan (they're my AL team, Marlins are my NL team), and I saw that team wander through 15 years of losing seasons before coming out of nowhere last season, so you always gotta have hope.

But I do hope they rid themselves of Loria soon and get a competent owner.

At least they still have Stanton. For now.
