Notes: stupid refers to lack of ability while ignorant refers to lack of knowledge

so he's both stoopid AND ignorant!

and mean!

i disagree with the word 'strong' in the ad-
it should have said 'the stupid is LARGE' or 'racism is extensive' or 'people who repeat alex joneses' crap are stupid, watch out for these fools, there could be one in your workplace'

i don't think repeating something a hate-monger 'thinks' counts as free speech.

There are non-hateful ways to refudiate people without making blanket accusations like "the stupid is strong" which presumably are aimed at millions of Americans.

Ultimately, "you are wrong" is a little bit more convincing as a response than "you are an idiot" even if the same proof follows both statements. The hateful response is not the only possible challenge.

Not trusting the president and claiming that fact is opinion, as the add suggests, are completely different. If event A happens after event B, the timeline is not opinion. To claim it is opinion IS stupid, and that stupidity should be called out early and often.

But that's just Ralph's opinion.

Fri Feb 1, 2013, 02:06 PM

My own opinion differs.

I do not disagree that what he said is stupid. The point is that this caller is being held up, put in the pillory, as an example of ALL those who "do not trust the President'. Out of all the examples of her show that could have been used, why tell THIS story?

Because it fits a frame that we love. The frame of gang warfare. The frame that says our gang of Jets is smart and decent and kind and honest and their gang of Sharks is stupid and indecent (did you see the tweets about Gabrielle Giffords?) and mean and hypocritical. We love to tell the story, we love to hear the story, because it helps us to feel superior to thee.

Meanwhile the hate mongers on the other side will search out the most ridiculous, the most dishonest and the dumbest things said by members of our gang (perhaps they could be directed to this post I am writing right now) so they too can feel superior.

Most importantly, we both get fired up for the next rumble.

It's like Jay Gould said. "I can hire half of the working class to kill the other half."

In this way, we the people stay divided and thus we stay conquered. NEITHER political party is representing the working class, but we make sure to keep hating, and keep fighting as if one side is.

But as Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, et. al. show, you can make a decent living stirring up hate. A very decent living. I expect Ms. Radio Show wants a piece of that pie.

20. You make a very cogent argument.

I admit I am caught up on the my gang vs. their gang mentality.

I'm not sure I can successfully refute your case and I appreciate that. The scenario you describe reminded me of. Star Trek episode where a life form thrived on the hatred between two gangs, and continued to set the environment to inflame the hatred.

We are being set up to oppose one another, and that is truly sad, and will be undoing, in the long run.

perhaps made an impression. It was a theme of many episodes.

The one with the hideous entity stirring up hate between the kids and the adults. The one with the kids who never got old (actually they lived hundreds of years as children, but then died when they hit puberty) and hated the "grups" - "bonk, bonk on the head, bonk, bonk". The one with the half white/half black reverse twins who had wiped each other out, and the last two continued to fight. There was some of that in the episode with the lava world with Lincoln and the Vulcan founder and even with the Gorn. Kirk and company would fight, but refused to hate, refused to kill.

The story told in the ad stirs up HATE against them - they are "racists" and "disgusting" and "evil".

My Oxford Desk dictionary lists synonyms for "disgust" - "loathing, contempt, hatred".

You said "It isn't her fault he called"

But it IS her fault that his call was put on the air. Somebody from her show took the call and decided "let's put this guy on the air". Further, it is her fault that his call was used in this ad. Whoever is responsible for the ad is trying to stir up that hatred against the Sharks - that gang of evil.

You think the hatred is justified, but that is what the hater ALWAYS thinks.

You think they hated first, and perhaps they did, but I agree with Martin Luther King

"The nonviolent resister would contend that in the struggle for human dignity, the opporessed people of the world must not succumb to the temptation of becoming bitter or indulging in hate campaigns. To retaliate in kind would do nothing but intensify the existence of hate in the universe." "Stride toward freedom"

first of all, are you saying the guy isn't stupid?

you are wrong there.

are you saying calling stupid stupid is hate?

again wrong. calling obama stupid because he's black would be hate.

calling a stupid person stupid is called THE TRUTH. does that truth hurt YOU?

no.

it is the stupid man engaging in gang warfare- all the ad does is say-
'look at stupid. be aware of stupid. he might be in the next cubicle in your office. he might have a gun, and he's stupid, so watch out.'

like a PSA (public service)

so YOU can either defend the guy, or hopefully have some contempt. you have no right to deny my saying 'i hate stupid'

good choice to put him on the air- maybe there is someone out there who thinks the same way as him (unfortunately millions of peeps, really) and will think twice when hearing him ridiculed in public for his stupid and offensive 'ideas', which are actually some sort of fucked up racist propaganda.

go to world net daily and tell me the owners and readers of that site aren't 100% stupid, hateful scum.

and you suggest the attitude of 'they are allowed to express their feelings'?

well, so am i-->they are all turds with feet and mouths but no normal brain functions.

the 'loathing contempt and hatred' is DESERVED, for promoters of evil stupid.

i'm not disagreeing with MLK, just you.

i am not being oppressed by the stupid, so no need to be polite.

mr. stupid is so far gone, i don't think his 'hate' could get any worse.

to put it another way 'you are stupid. i hate you and the place your stupid comes from'

is WAY different than 'the Pres. is a child killing conspirator'.

like those idiots that yelled '2nd amendment' at the dad, at a public hearing, who lost a kid in CT.

stupid, stupid, STUPID! and your plea for PC-ness falls on deaf ears.

34. is it hateful to call a fat person fat? Is it hateful to call an ugly person ugly?
Sat Feb 2, 2013, 01:40 PM
Feb 2013

I would say that it is. Things do not become less hateful simply by virtue of being true. In fact, a true insult is clearly more hurtful than an untrue insult.

And it is definitely hateful to put somebody on a stage and to tell a crowd of people "look at how ugly this person is".

That does not become less hateful simply because it is true.

You are disagreeing with MLK if you think hatred is deserved. http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=228358

But I am not saying that you do not have a right to disagree with MLK, nor to fully express your disagreement. Rush Limbaugh apparently has a 1st Amendment right to become a multi-millionaire by spewing hate. This lady has that same right should she choose to go down that path.

I have the same right to say I think that is the wrong path and that it will have negative consequences for all of us.

I choose a different path. I think people should follow Martin instead of following Rush.

They directly and indirectly inevitably bring darkness, negativity, and destructive chaos into or near my space.

It takes work to not let them bring me down, and the truth is, I really wish I did not have to deal with them in any way on any level, neither directly nor from the consequences of their darkness and seemingly inalienable intrinsic confusion.
