Saw it at least three times tonight. Do they really think people watching Rachel Maddow
will be swayed to their side? Governor Coumo will have to decide by Feb. 27 to allow fracking or not.

The natural-gas industry is out with its own set of new television and radio advertisements, urging Gov. Andrew Cuomo to give the green light to hydraulic fracturing ahead of fast-approaching February deadlines for his administration.
The New York State Petroleum Council the state branch of the American Petroleum Institute, the major industry lobbying group began airing the new ads this week, with a radio spot playing in Albany and the television ad airing both in Albany and across the Southern Tier.
Both ads have a similar theme, citing dismal job figures for Broome and Tioga counties both are in the gas-rich Marcellus Shale region before presenting shale-gas drilling and hydrofracking as the way to fix it.

I've seen the generic pro fracking ads for quite some time now but this is the first ad targeted for NY state.
As much as I like Cuomo it seems that big money always wins.

It's only a matter of time before its time to go toe to toe with the gas industry by whatever means necessary.
I'm ready.

(18,219 posts)NY is an area that they really want to get to, especially the southern area. I am in PA, and they are winning with all the ads. I am shocked by the numbers of people who are pro-fracking here---mostly because of all the money people get for mineral rights, but I think that the ads also are swaying a lot of people.
Good luck in NY with keeping them at bay. NY was smart to hold out for more information and research, and I don't think that there is enough true non-partician research yet to have facts. Maybe they will continue to wait for better information.

(4,909 posts)This fertile land has supported life for millions of years. Fracking is just plain unnatural and unsustainable. Sorry
for you folks in PA.

(12,081 posts)natural gas look bad because it causes competition for them, and then natural gas companies come out with ads about how coal is so bad.
