McCain Ruined His Posterity

Hear, hear!

Richard Cohen, who supported the war in Iraq, blasts John McCain and Chuck Hagel for supporting the war in Iraq. However, he also had this harsh appraisal of Sarah Palin:

It was McCain who chose Sarah Louise Palin out of all the people in the United States of America to be his running mate. With the possible exception of a Kardashian, there was no more unqualified person in the country to be a vice president and, as they say, a heartbeat away from the presidency. For this decision alone, McCain will remain forever on the wrong side of history. Even Fox News has given up on Palin. It appears the woman had absolutely nothing to say.

I don't think that point can be made enough.

your career, John, we all know you served in Vietnam, John, then you dumped your 1st wife to marry the wealthy heir to a fortune, John, bought your way into a Senate seat, John, used your committee position to become one of the richest men in the Senate, John, acquired more homes than you can even remember, John, ran for President a few times because you thought you were entitled to it, John, and even though you were rejected for that high honor, John, you now think because you've been in office for some 30 years you are some important elder statesman.

Can you tell I don't care for John?

Maybe I've lived in Arizona too long.

John McCain has to be the most bitter, ill-tempered, vile man ever. That he continues to pollute the U.S. Senate with his cranky incivility is a shame. A man with no moral center who is incapable of forgiving, forgetting and moving on is a most dangerous man indeed. History is littered with such men who have caused great harm to their countries and their countries' peoples. I watched McCain's questioning of Chuck Hagel and I was floored by just how irrational and unreasonable McCain was. McCain's legacy will be Sarah Palin. And that, sadly, just about sums about McCain in all of his angry hubris.

I think McCain's greatest service to his country was picking the Wasilla Hillbilly as his runningmate. IMO what this decision did was expose the true nature of the GOP to many fence-sitter independents, a major piece to the overall picture that the repug party is a joke and not serious at all about governing and doing what's best for the country. The decision helped assure Obama's election/re-election and the ushering in of a new era.

So, with that, thank you John McCain! Now please just spare us and retire quietly to your multiple homes.
