Police: Dad fatally shot at home while son hosted sleepover party

The shooting happened around 8pm in the 1800 block of Porstmouth while one of the victim's children was having a sleepover party, according to HPD Sgt. Brian Harris.

Police say the victim staggered into the living room in view of his wife and children before collapsing onto the floor. His wife and 8-year-old son called 911, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say it was not a home invasion and believe the victim was targeted. Until it was sold last year, the victim owned a beer distribution business in Pasadena.

Homicide detectives say the victim is the brother-in-law of an HPD motorcycle officer, and he was called to the scene by patrol officers who responded.
