SodaStream’s main production site is in Mishor Edomim, an Israeli settlement industrial park located in the West Bank.

The land where the SodaStream factory is located was illegally confiscated by the Israeli military occupation authorities from Palestinian owners. Israeli settlements are an impediment to peace and violate international law.

Since 1968 the US government has called on Israel to stop building and expanding settlements in the West Bank.

Companies should not profit from products that are made on stolen property or that perpetuate the Israeli occupation of the West Bank

All countries and all governments, including Israel, need to be criticized, even boycotted, when they violate the human rights of others. How else will they ever see their own mistakes and, perhaps, change for the better?

will look elsewhere.

For the past ten years I have tried to support 'ethical' companies and products (it's easier than you think) and if I choose an ethically made product over another I write to the other manufacturer and tell them why. I fall off my ethical wagon every now and then.

I've bought goods from Israel but I do my research- I've rejected other Israeli products and Soda Stream will now be one.

Sometimes the boycott's best attempt results in more sales.

Maybe those folks should worry about the damage done to this country by the Right wing before advancing the cause of others? The Arab nations are the sworn enemies of Israel. Who should we support, the sponsors of terrorism or the nation of Israel, hmmm.

Whom should we boycott? I don't know, lets see:

Who has seized and annexed a good third of a neighboring people's land?

Who has launched "preemptive" aggressive wars on nearly all of its neighbors?

Who has threatened to preemptively attack another nation for developing nuclear technology while at the same time arming itself with an arsenal of nuclear weapons it refuses to even admit it owns.

Who has sown millions of cluster bomblets to create a miles deep minefield on its Northern border, doing so on another nation's territory?

Who keeps a million and a half non-citizens in what amounts to a gigantic prison, and refuses to let them conduct anything like normal relations and commerce with the rest of the World?

Whom should we boycott? Gosh, that's really tough.

I'm not anti-Israel. I happen to love the nation of Israel, and have since I was a child. It's true I do despise Israel's current leaders and their indefensible policies toward Palestinians, particularly, and many others more generally. That, however, is something quite different.

So don't call me "anti-Israel" on these forums. There is a mechanism for dealing with that kind of slander.

Everyone here seems to post about how bad Arabs and Muslims in general are. If they post anything concerning the Mid-East at all, that is. I do not view the situation in such a one-sided way.

As to Hamas: If there weren't a genuine need, do you really think, after the years of relentless pounding, they would even exist?

they are cruel and treat specific people like shit. everyone here on DU gets that about the baggers, but somehow when the Israeli government does similar despicable things - like the Ethiopian women who unknowingly were treated so as not to have children - it will be defended.

The government of Israeli is like Dick Cheney and the fucking assholes that were the government in the U.S. corrupt leadership and extreme greed and paranoia and all the rest is not isolated to just the PNACers in America.

I bet most Israelis think the same too. But let the anti-semite accussations fly. ridiculous bordering on pure nuts.

Sat Feb 2, 2013, 07:15 PM

That says a lot of bad things about you. If you're interested in a union response to this:

The Hamilton and District Labour Council in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, adopted the following motion on January 17, 2012, joining the international campaign to boycott SodaStream products:

Whereas: SodaStream is an Israeli company with its main factory in the industrial park of Ma’aleh Adumim, the largest Israeli settlement in the West Bank, which is internationally recognized as occupied Palestinian territory.

Whereas: The Israeli colonization of the West Bank, including the industrial park where SodaStream has its main factory, is illegal under international law.
...
Therefore be it resolved that the Hamilton and District Labour Council support the international boycott of SodaStream products.

http://laborforpalestine.net/2013/01/19/hamilton-and-district-labour-council-passes-motion-to-boycott-sodastream-products/
