From the website:
On January 16, 2013, President Barack Obama issued 23 executive actions against your 2nd amendment Constitutional right to bear arms. He did this without the consent of Congress which in itself, violates the foundation of the Constitution and the co-equal branches of government.
In response to these unconstitutional actions by the President, on .223, February 23, 2013 the American people will stand together in defiance to protect the right that protects ALL of our rights, the 2nd Amendment! They will organize locally so that they may band together neighbor to neighbor and reassert their community's right to determine their own destiny! Join today by selecting an option below:
Yes! I want to resist. Please connect me with others near me!
Yes! I want to help organize a rally near me!
Yes! I have begun organizing a rally and would like to register it for promotion and would like to be provided with a list of people who sign up close to me!

(8,556 posts)It's still celebrated in Russia today, though know it's known as 'Defender of the Fatherland Day.' Apparently over the years it's evolved into more of a celebration of men in general and not just those in the armed forces.

(12,977 posts)Alaska Republican Joe Miller, the tea party-backed candidate who fell short in his bid for a Senate seat last year, isnt backing away from politics, saying today that he has signed on to run a PAC with strong ties to the tea party movement.
Miller who rose to fame last year after defeating Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the GOP primary, only to lose to a Murkowski write-in bid in the general election will become the chairman of the Nevada-based Western Representation PAC, which describes itself as working to tak[e] back our country from the control of special interest groups and fighting against the growth of government.
We are trying to be a significant influence in 2012 and simply an extension of what we saw in 2010, Miller told ABC News on Wednesday. The tea party movement is going to be bigger not much question about that [and] more of a political force to be reckoned with in 2012, he said.
Millers hope is that the PAC will become an important factor in endorsing tea party candidates nationwide. In the 2010 cycle, the PAC reported raising $401,020. Miller, by comparison, raised more than $3.3 million for his failed Senate bid.

(15,262 posts)Don't be fooled by the patriotism or all the fools they capture into their orbits, their purpose is actually covert and private, destroy the USA and take over the 50% of land that is federally owned. This effort is underway in legislatures already and has passed in Mormon Utah, where the state now claims back all federal lands except parks and monuments. Remember your history, the Mormons started a new Nation State in the unexplored world before the USA conquered/claimed their territory.
1847 - First party of Mormon pioneers arrive in the Salt Lake Valley.
1848 - US wins Mexican War and the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo is signed which cedes Utah to the United States.
This destabalizing effort also plays into the hands of Dominionists who see the USA as a religious creation and oppose the secular Constitution.
Make no mistake about it, there are insurrectionists at work in the Republican Party, not just in Mormon Utah.

(12,977 posts)I've posted about Dan Backer here a few times. He's a lawyer who's set up a number of conservative PACS that target Tea Partiers for donations while spending very little on actual conservative candidates. He's also been involved with a couple of Supreme Court cases seeking to loosen campaign finance restrictions.
One of those cases, which was successful, resulted in the creation of the so-called "hybrid" PAC, of which WRPAC is an example. And I see that WRPAC was also involved in requesting an FEC advisory opinion which would have allowed them to skirt normal reporting requirements for their Facebook ads on behalf of candidates. (http://www.fec.gov/pages/fecrecord/2012/march/ao2011-28.shtml)
I also found this -- http://saos.nictusa.com/aodocs/1191456.pdf -- which indicates that Backer represented WRPAC in that FEC request.
The short version is that Backer is bad news wherever he turns up. Almost everything he's been involved in is a scam of one sort or another. And the OpenSecrets report on WRPAC -- which shows them spending almost a million dollars in the 2012 election cycle but donating only $68,500 to federal candidates -- suggests this could be more of the same. (http://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/lookup2.php?strID=C00461772)
Here's the link to their monthly FEC filings -- http://images.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/fecimg/?C00461772. I've just spent a little time glancing through their last two yearly summaries -- and it does seem they spend more on payroll, travel, and fundraising than on anything else.

(12,977 posts)This, from October 13:

And this from September 1:
http://sync.democraticunderground.com/1014215800#post26
Backer is starting to remind me of Jack Abramoff back in 2004-05 -- where at first he was somebody you'd never heard of and then you started to run into his name in every story about questionable right-wing operations.
But Backer is still flying under the radar. Mostly you run into a story about a PAC founded by some allegedly idealistic 23-year-old young conservative -- and it turns out that Backer is really the brains behind it. Many of Backer's groups also have some connection to the Tea Party Express, which is the most astroturf of the tea party groups.
And if he was just a scam artist, you could sit back and laugh at the people he's fleecing -- but his consistent efforts to chip away at what's left of campaign finance regulations makes him a real danger.
