North Carolina GOP Lawmaker Calls For Bringing Back Public Hangings, Starting With Abortion Provider

North Carolina GOP Lawmaker Calls For Bringing Back Public Hangings, Starting With Abortion Providers

By Marie Diamond

The last legal public hanging in America took place in 1936 in Owensboro, Kentucky. The “event” attracted 20,000 people and turned into such a sickening spectacle that many credit it with ending the practice in the U.S.

But one North Carolina Republican believes that as a country we’ve grown soft since banning public hangings and is calling for them to reinstated as a deterrent to crime. If Rep. Larry Pittman had his way, “abortionists, rapists, and kidnappers” would be first in line for the gallows:

Republican Rep. Larry Pittman, who was appointed to the District 82 House seat in October, expressed his views in an email sent Wednesday to every member of the General Assembly. [...]

“We need to make the death penalty a real deterrent again by actually carrying it out. Every appeal that can be made should have to be made at one time, not in a serial manner,” Pittman wrote in the email. “If murderers (and I would include abortionists, rapists, and kidnappers, as well) are actually executed, it will at least have the deterrent effect upon them. For my money, we should go back to public hangings, which would be more of a deterrent to others, as well.”

It's time to get the Republican Party to start owning these lunatics and be held accountable for them.

at least according to this:

Congratulations Larry Pittman, New NC House Representative

Larry Pittman was selected by the Cabarrus County GOP Executive Board last night to replace Jeff Barnhardt in the NC House 82nd district seat.

Pittman, who has previously ran for the seat, promised the Board he would defend the people’s rights and fight against government intrusion in his nomination speech.

Following his selection, Pittman had this written statement for the people of Cabarrus County and the 82nd District:

I want to thank the folks who supported me for the appointment to represent the 82nd District in the NC House, both the five Executive Committee members who voted for me, and anyone who may have encouraged them to do so. This is a great responsibility, which I take as a solemn duty to put the rights of our citizens first, ahead of any other agenda. I ask for everyone’s prayers, as I seek the Lord’s guidance to help me be a good and effective servant of the people. May God bless our efforts to uphold the founding principles that made this State and this nation great.

Sincerely,
Larry G. Pittman

And Perdue just announced she's not running for a second term. The fun never stops in this state.

in Hawai'i, for instance, the governor has the power to fill a vacancy, though the replacement must be from the same party. Surely there's a less offensive repuke than Pittman even in Cabarrus County!

If people insist on killing people to prove that killing people is wrong, why hide the fact that we're killing people behind closed doors?

Hiding the murder makes it easier to ignore. Personally, I think that public executions would very quickly throw the balance against capital punishment in this country.

if they are going to hang the providers then they must hang the women hiring them too. Just as a the contract killer (abortion provider) is quilty, so is the person (pregnant woman) who hired the contract killer. You cannot get around this. Let's see how the country likes WOMEN being hanged on the gallows for seeking an abortion.
