Ouch. 55% of Americans, and 55% of independents, have unfavorable view of Congressional GOP's policies: -read article

Marco Rubio:

Presidents in both parties – from John F. Kennedy to Ronald Reagan – have known that our free enterprise economy is the source of our middle class prosperity.

"President Obama? He believes it's the cause of our problems. That the economic downturn happened because our government didn't tax enough, spend enough and control enough. And, therefore, as you heard tonight, his solution to virtually every problem we face is for Washington to tax more, borrow more and spend more."

CNN poll taken just after the speech found that 77 percent had a very or somewhat positive reaction to it. The more important findings, however, may be related to the policies he proposed. Seven in 10 said the gun policies would move the country in the right direction; over three fourths approved of the immigration policies; and nearly two-thirds said his plans will improve the economy. . .

standing at the open refrigerator Definitely not ready for prime time. I watched the first two minutes of his infomercial and that was it.

It's just the breaks of following such a large and polished performance from the Capitol. Another strange one was when Whitman staged one in a hall that looked like a miniature gallery, complete with a miniature applauding audience. Both parties have been trying to work out an alternative for decades, but I haven't seen many which amount to more than a lonely and awkward pol speaking to a mostly empty room.

I'll say this, if Rubio was smart, he would have chucked the snark and bluster from his prepared remarks and tried to lay out a real economic vision; instead of giving the speech Ryan wrote for him.

The only thing worth noting about Rubio's speech was that the GOP continues to run against an imaginary Obama instead of the real one.
