Native Americans = Endangered Species according to MI legislator
The Michigan Civil Rights Commission has filed a federal complaint attempting to stop using Native American mascots in Michigan schools. Now I am delighted to see this as Native American mascots have been a pet peeve of mine for years. Not only that, studies are showing these mascots have an adverse effect on Native American students.
Enter Anthony Forlini (R-Naturally) who made this profound statement at a "heated" Budget Committee hearing:
“Where does it stop?” he asks. “I mean if you’ve got, for instance, an eagle, which is an endangered species. Can you imagine the guilt of a team that beats a team that’s named after an endangered species? You can go on and on with this.”
