Life was so left and care free. Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush gave us hope, something to unite behind.
President Obama came along and ruined all that.
Damn you, President Obama.

Don't you wish you had a fast forward button to skip to a time when things will definitely get better?

(6,238 posts)Obama is better than most of the people you named, but that's not saying too much. Reagan was probably the worst president in the latter half of the 20th century and Bush junior will likely go down as one of the worst presidents ever. I said most because it's debatable who is better Clinton or Obama. Neither were very good, but better than the others on your list.

In the meantime, I'd like to leave everyone with this short poem:
The difference 'twixt an Optimist and a Pessimist is droll,
the Optimist sees the doughnut, whilst the Pessimist sees the hole.

"Obama is better than most of the people you named, but that's not saying too much."
...not good enough. We need to go back to the "last liberal" President, Nixon.
"I said most because it's debatable who is better Clinton or Obama. Neither were very good, but better than the others on your list. "
A Clinton fan, I see.

(6,238 posts)I think he was horrible, I'm just not sure if he was worse than Obama. I'll never forgive him for NAFTA, but Obama has signed a couple of his own free-trade agreements among other policy mistakes.

...DADT, DOMA, Glass-Steagall, etc?
Whenever anyone starts to make the "I'm just not sure if he was worse than Obama" argument about Clinton, my eyebrows get raised.

(6,238 posts)Which I blame for the horrible state of media. In my opinion, though it really doesn't matter which was better. They are both centrist "New Democrats" in my opinion and have helped turn the Democratic Party into Republican-lite.

...IMO it does matter because the first step back is to reverse some of Clinton's negative policies, primarily in terms of deregulation and civil rights.

(18,998 posts)It seems to me that any president sense JFK has been captured...
What I mean is that once in office if they don't know the score and just who calls the shots they tell them so that they may understand just what they will be allowed to do...
When asked what most surprised him as president Jimmy Carter (who I believe to be one of the few honest politicians we have ever had) said he was surprised by how little power he had...and the look in his eyes spoke clearly to me that this was no small remark.
But we live in this fantasy that the president is the most powerful man in the world...I think the most powerful man (or more likely men) in the world is unknown by most of us...
But that might be a CT...and I could be in danger of the thought police for that.
