I was driving home from the airport and was on U.S. 1 heading into St. Augustine. Around 6:45, saw a large ball of fire falling in the sky. Very impressive, and definitely not what I see when I see a falling star.
I thought I had imagined it, but when I googled this morning, saw I wasn't the only one.

(13,590 posts)we were driving in the direction it came through the clouds. Spectacular and relatively slow as it disappeared beyond the horizon. It was impossible to tell how close we may have been but there was no sound. We knew what it was, realizing that's what a meteor must look like if you are ever lucky enough to see one that close and low to the ground.
