Topeka, Kansas, Urged To Remove Fluoride From Drinking Water To Protect Legislators' IQs

A Republican group in Kansas wants Topeka city officials to remove fluoride from the city's drinking water in order to preserve the intelligence of legislators in the state's capital.

Citing concerns about the chemical's impact on IQ, the Kansas Republican Assembly, a conservative group that has campaigned against fluoridation, is sending a letter to Topeka's top leaders urging that the city's fluoride pipe be shut off during the annual legislative session. A draft of the letter and the minutes of the group's January meeting where the proposal was made surfaced on the KRA's website in recent days.

The minutes read:

After hearing the fluoride update, Brian Coss made a motion for the KRA Secretary to write a tactful letter to each Topeka City Council member, Topeka’s City Manager, and Topeka Mayor Bill Bunten, asking that the fluoride valve be turned off during the legislative session to protect our legislators from potential loss of I.Q. and other negative side effects of fluoride while in Topeka. In addition to our legislators and the many others who go to Topeka during the session, Topeka residents would also benefit from the move, and the city could save a lot of money. Eric Henderson seconded the motion, and after some discussion, the 33 members present approved the motion unanimously.

One idiot filed a bill that says legislators should be rehired by their employers at the same pay when they lose their re-election or step down (there are no term limits in Kansas). Another bill says KU and Wichita State have to play a basketball game in Wichita every year. And another bill says passengers can't be searched - at the THREE airports in the state. (Goodbye airlines!)

And then there are the bills destroying unions and banning abortion. As if those weren't bad enough.

These people are about the dumbest bunch we've ever had.

Can't imagine removal of fluoride will help.

She just posted that Scott was involved with this anti-fluoride group. He believes the government is putting fluoride in our water as a means of mind control.

They're just dropping the claim that the 'Commies' are behind it (though there are still some who believe that).

the anti fluoride campaign was a John Birch Society thing so it makes perfect sense that the tea baggers would be on this now since the Koch brothers were born to and raised by THE John Birch society man. Lordy, this is getting so tiresome and we have years of it ahead in this state.

No, I'm not making fun of Kansas residents, but your legistlators are pretty screwed up on more levels than I can enumerate. You're not alone. A lot of states have that problem.

Oh, and fluoride can't do any damage to the zombies anyway.
