Israel to Award Obama Medal of Distinction (First Sitting US President

President Obama will be awarded the Israeli Presidential Medal of Distinction during his visit to Israel next month, according to a report in the Times of Israel.

Obama will be the first sitting U.S. president to receive the honor, which was announced by Israeli President Shimon Peres’s office on Monday.

“Barack Obama is a true friend of the State of Israel, and has been since the beginning of his public life,” said Peres in a statement announcing the decision.

“As president of the United States of America, he has stood with Israel in times of crisis," he continued. "During his time as president he has made a unique contribution to the security of the State of Israel, both through further strengthening the strategic cooperation between the countries and through the joint development of technology to defend against rockets and terrorism.”

The statement went on to praise Obama as a “symbol of democratic values” who “exemplifies the spirit of equality of opportunity in American society.”

In that regard there must be something going on that Fox wants to provide a smokescreen for and it could be Israel because they have given a lot of coverage to the suicide of a so called country music star today. While it is a tragic,sad story it does not deserve the time given to it by Fox to the exclusion of President's Day or the Israeli trip.

Even as this administration has worked to build and maintain our nation's relationship and promised obligations to our ally in the Middle East, they've also challenged Israel on several fronts and worked to make diplomatic progress and forge working relationships with some who may not operate in Israel's interest. It's inevitable that both sides will have an interest in portraying him as partial to one or the other.

Did you know Peres actually supports peace talks with the Palestinians? Surely you know talking is negotiating and negotiating is compromise and compromise is surrender and surrender is a form of terrorism. Rather than support a true Israeli hero like Bibi, Obama is essentially siding with terrorists again. Everyone who disagrees with me is a terrorist, except they use facts instead of car bombs, but otherwise they're indistinguishable.
