Senator Sheldon Whitehouse..THANK YOU FOR COMING OUT OF THE SHADOWS!

Last edited Mon Feb 18, 2013, 08:47 PM - Edit history (3)

I'm so thrilled that Whitehous has come OUT and showing his stuff. I loved his Campaign and had such high hopes for him...but once he got to DC he got "The MUZZLE." He's COME OUT...along with Van Johnson former Obama "Green Jobs Czar" to Speak Out and Encourage Obama to give us CLEAN ENERGY over CORPORATE FOSSIL/NUCLEAR ENERGY!

KUDO's to SHELDON WHITEHOUSE.... A LITTLE LATE...but GOOD TO SEE YA!

Crowd marches in opposition to Keystone pipeline

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., told members of the crowd that they could help encourage Obama. "We are going to have the president's back and he is going to have our back," Whitehouse said, adding that "We are going to look at our grandchildren and say 'Yes, we did.' "

But the rally had an edge of uncertainty about how hard Obama will push to take legislative or executive action. And most of the speakers zeroed in on the impending Keystone XL decision.

Those speakers included Bill McKibben, a Middlebury College professor who has led the fight to stop the pipeline; two leaders of First Nation tribes in Canada; and Tom Steyer, an investment fund manager in California and major fundraiser for Obama. All are strong foes of the Keystone project.

"If this pipeline goes through, your government will help in the raping and pillaging of the land of my ancestors," said Chrystal Lameman, a member of the Beaver Lake Cree Nation in Canada. "Then 1/8the companies 3/8 promise to give back what was never theirs in the first place."

Steyer said: "I get the argument for the Keystone. The argument is that it is business as usual because we use fossil fuels. But the time for business as usual has passed."
Afterward, Whitehouse said that "if the president and Secretary Kerry choose to approve the pipeline and proceed, there will be a massive credibility gap between that and what he said in the inauguration, especially if this is the first deed out of the box. That will be a problem for him."

We play highlights from the "Forward on Climate" rally that drew tens of thousands to Washington D.C.’s National Mall Sunday. Protesters from across the United States and Canada urged President Obama to reject the proposed Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, which would deliver tar sands oil from Alberta to refineries along the Gulf Coast. Organizers described Sunday’s protest as "the largest climate rally in history," and Reverend Lennox Yearwood compared it to Martin Luther King’s 1963 March on Washington for civil rights. We hear from speakers including Van Jones, Obama’s former Green Jobs advisor, Canadian indigeous leader Chief Jacqueline Thomas of the Saik’uz First Nation, and Bill McKibben of 350.org. SUPPORT HIS AGENDA!

I saw a report on RT with Abby Martin with an Obama Activist saying that this March/Rally was in support of Obama's Clean Energy Agenda that he ran on and that his supporters came out to STAND BEHIND HIM!
