I think so. Corporate way of building up the best and then easing them aside for lower pay talent.

(1,805 posts)How did you come up with that theory? Rachel is a goldmine for MSNBC.
We "enjoyed" the show last night. Not sure enjoy is the right word considering the subject matter. I truly feel ill when I see Cheney's face. Even more so when he speaks.

(28,791 posts)if they allow her to tell us what we knew from the beginning.
I watched bits of it when I could last night. I felt like I was reading old DU threads. I'll watch the whole thing today to see if she tells me anything I didn't already know.

(16,993 posts)My apologies if that isn't true, but I've been under the impression Hubris: Selling the Iraq War was a special Rachel wanted to do, based on the book. Both authors of the book are regulars on her show, as well as other MSNBC shows.
Rachel is one of MSNBC's biggest sources of revenue, as her show has the eyes and ears advertisers want, and her show is simply the best on the cable network. If Maddow left, MSNBC would lose advertising dollars, and some other network would pick her up, and her viewers are loyal enough that they would follow her.

(7,044 posts)and now that we have one, we know it.
America has been served up overpaid draft-dodging, drug-addled Republican Propaganda Pimps on Corporate TV for so long, that they are starved for intelligent honest reporting.
Rachel delivers on that score. If MSNBC were to toss her to the rabid anti-American right-wing Republican cabal of FAIL freaks, they would be shooting themselves in the wallet.

(6,107 posts)you have not come back to explain what you meant, as to how this would be an aid in getting rid of her.
I don't ride horses by the way, except with ny grandkids on carousels.

(1,941 posts)I remember all the controversy over Olbermann leaving. I was inclined to believe conspiracy stuff. But his flameout on Current settled it. He's immensely talented and immensely troubled, does not play well with others.
Donahue was axed due to the need to silence liberals, this is true.

(4,667 posts)CNN would take her in a second. She is in news what we would call in sports a franchise player.
