So the economy will crash and then people will get hurt which the republicans
then will hope they take it out on the POTUS.
BTW the National Weather Service will face a 5 to 20% budget cut if sequestration
goes through ..... now we hardly ever have tornados and blizzards in the late winter
and early spring.

will not get a weather report .... now I might be wrong but cutting funds
to the NWS might very well hurt it's level of function.

(21,475 posts)A part of their strategy now is to allow Sequestration now and then introduce a bill to increase Defense spending and when/if Democrats vote against that bill they can get back on their band wagon of how Democrats are weak on Defense....And they also know that Defense could stand to be cut by that amount and still be the strongest military in the world ....BAR None...So yes I do indeed believe the Republicans want the Sequestration to proceed. they believe Democrats and Obama will get the majority of the blame and they could care less about the economy... They have theirs and they always will.....Their children and their grandchildren are set for life......They want to cause great ruin and blame it on the Obama Administration. How Obama FAILED to bring sides together to solve our great problems....Americans are fairly ignorant so they have a very good chance of pulling the whole thing off. Republicans are treacherous and have no Low they are unwilling to sink too.

(36,063 posts)Sequestration puts the Dems in the difficult place of having to fight to restore social spending in the face of the intransigent obstruction of that spending in the House.
The R's consider Dem politicians to be too weak to hold up the defense cuts. And by and large that is probably a truth about the political landscape.
That's why the R's voted for sequestration back in the summer. It made it impossible for the Dems to move any additional social spending. The D's will be lucky to hold on to reduced spending for existing social programs
