W. Va. Bill Would Require 3 Drug Tests For Teenage Drivers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – A bill proposed in the West Virginia House of Delegates would require three separate drug tests before teenagers could get a driver’s license. It is the latest in a string of proposals to expand government-mandated drug testing in the state.

The bill introduced Tuesday would require potential drivers to pass a drug test before they receive a learner’s permit, an intermediate license and a full license.

Last April, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin signed an executive order mandating drug testing for anyone who participates in government funded job-training programs.

If they demand it of others, they should be willing to undergo the same requirements.

Teens already are the worst drivers on average over any other age group.

And driving should be fully regulated and people should not drink and drive.

So I am for this.

(along with seatbelt use, and NO cell phones and doubly NO to texting.)

The safety of the roads is not a partisian issue.

And it takes til about 25 or 26 to get the right reflex motions for driving anyhow.

With the cost of insurance, everybody pays for every accident, so we all save money with less accidents.

And driving means responsiblity.

I would be in favor of more eye tests, and all everytime one renews.

Though its funny to say older people, teens by statistical proof are so many more likely to speed and die.

(now maybe older people cause teens to drive wrecklessly faster, swerving in and out, but older people don't do that. Teens shouldn't drive.

It's why you have to be over 25 to rent a car in alot of states with the major rent a cars.

... because they are inherently reckless or more likely to be drugged. What if it's just because they are less experienced at driving? If you raise the driving age, it just makes 25-year-old drivers "the worst", instead of 18-year-old drivers - everybody has to start sometime. If people start driving as teens, at least they are more likely to get adequate instruction.

A 25 year old isn't in such a rush. More responsiblity. Better reflex motions.

When playing a video game, matters little if the vehicle crashes.

It has been proven both lower speed, and seatbelts cause less accidents.

(Why Texas raised the speed limit to 85 I don't know).

You have a point in a way, but I think kids text more while driving than any other age group
(of course that will change as the years go on).

But kids think they are invincible.

We have a 25 to 9 advantage in the Senate and a 55 to 45 advantage in the House. WV has a Democratic governor. It is a Democratic state so what they are doing is being brought to you by the Democratic party.

I wonder what company will be running these tests and what Delegates in W. Virginia they are connected to. If I remember correctly the company that was running the tests here in Florida was connected to Skelator.
