Idiocy of the Virginia road funding plan

Here are just a few of the idiotic rules in this road funding POS bill:

- Hybrid owners will be required to pay a $100 additional tax, because they don't use enough gas.
- The gas tax goes away, but is replace by a tax at the whole sale level. Will this result in lower gas prices for consumers? absolutely NOT...analysis shows that the price per gallon will actually rise
- The state sales tax will be increased, resulting in higher prices on all goods and services.
- Despite the raise in the sales tax, the $3.5B will not be enough to fix our lousy ass roads. recently, a snow storm cause so many potholes on I264 in Virginia Beach and Norfolk, that there were 24 cars disabled on the roads from hitting potholes....AND...additional tolls will have to be added to almost every fucking road in the state.
- One provision states that NONE of the revenue can be used for...say...expanding lightrail or public transportation systems.
- Additional fees and taxes will cost you an addition $400-500 dollars on the purchase of a new vehicle, and $200-300 on a used vehicle.

and that's just the shit we know about!

I fucking despise these short-sighted asshats!

The compromise legislation replaces the state's 17.5-cents-per-gallon gasoline tax with wholesale taxes on gasoline and diesel, and raises the state's sales tax rate to 5.3 percent from 5 percent, among other revenue-raising provisions.

It also boosts several regional taxes in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia to generate extra money for priority road projects in those regions

still use the roads. If the revenue source for maintenance is the gas tax there must be a substitution for those not using gas.

But as for the other tax increases, it is probably necessary to offset the breaks given to business and corporations. There is also likely a reduction in revenue due to the disappearing middle class.
