Something about PI that makes me want to read the book

PI is the only movie I saw (in years). I love mysteries, etc., but in book form, but PI's beauty can't be described in a book. My first glimpse of him made my heart ache...

What I didn't know about the movie, among many things, was that part of the story that dealt with the boy, and I don't even know his name. Before he "went to sea," he was preoccupied with religion. All of them.

He was very young and wanted to be a member of these religions: Hindu, Catholicism, Protestantism, probably Buddhism, and taught a class on Judaism. He loved all of the faiths. Very sweet and sort of comic...as was how PI got his name.

I was astonished when I heard they'd made a movie of Life of Pi, because as its director has said, it seemed unfilmable. I was very wrong, but the book and movie are quite different.
