Watched fahrenheit 911 again

It was on the other night and my girlfriend hadn't seen it so we watched.

I just want to say, that anyone who complains about Obama on foreign policy needs to watch this again. I am so proud of the competent and thoughtful leadership we have today. Compare it to the nightmare we had for 8 years. The way Bush and his cabal flippantly talked about death and war. "Bring em on"! All of the macho bullshit, and the lies.

We are so far from that type of leadership today, for that I am thankful. Obama may not be perfect, but he's a stronger world leader on his worst day than Bush could have hoped to be on his best day.

Nixon was fucking miserable but one could easily say the same for him.

I'd also say I think the biggest differences are tone rather than deed.

"Anyone who complains" has a problem? Good god.

Obama has extended Bush's policies and escalated them. The Patriot Act lives. Guantanamo lives. His new appointment to the CIA is a defender of "Kill Lists" and drone wars and torture and rendition. We are drone-bombing countries all over the Middle East, with whom we are not at war. We just built a massive security complex in Israel. We are expanding the military into Africa and building drone bases all over the world.

We have a new massive spy center in the US and expanding warrantless surveillance of our phone calls, emails, and internet activity. Our President has defended legislation to make this spying "legal." Our police departments are militarized. Peaceful protesters are being labeled as potential "terrorists," targeted for spying, and met with violent, coordinated federal assault.

Our President has claimed the power to assassinate American citizens on American soil without due process.

What on earth are you talking about?

right wing nuts swore up and down they were being released into the country..never mind that he wanted to move them to a maximum security prison so they could be tried.
Congress nut jobs put the kibosh to it and so they are still on the island.

Cross off the police departments in your Obama bashing also. That's a matter for local and state governments...not the Federal government or the president.
