One year ago today, Trayvon Martin an unarmed 17-year-old boy on his way home from 7-11 was shot and killed by George Zimmerman. The murder trial is scheduled to begin this June. A separate hearing may be held in April to determine whether Floridas controversial Stand Your Ground law gives Zimmerman immunity.
While nothing can make up for the events of February 26, 2012, many people have responded to the tragedy with compassion, courage and strength. Here are some of the most inspiring things that have happened over the last year.

(17,863 posts)2. And several depressing things
One that you cannot recognize that an adult in a car was stalking an unarmed child, and that child died, and it is not prima facie accepted that the stalker did something wrong (whether murder or manslaughter that is for a court to decide).

(1,805 posts)4. Did anyone else
see Zimmerman's brother on Bill Maher a few Fridays ago? Interesting. His eyes looked so much like his brother it was kinda creepy. Very soft-spoken. Ha, I can't remember a word he said.
Nice to read this piece. When realizing it's been a year, I first thought of all the senseless gun deaths since that time.
