(34,658 posts)This was Nova. I don't think this one has been aired before. I think there will be many shows coming up on PBS. This was good information- although it certainly highlighted the unpredictability of knowing which person with violent tendencies or mental problems will go on a killing rampage. It makes you realize that there are many people who could, but never do.
I think the unexplored factor in a lot of this is the media attention. Somewhere in all this the young killer wants to change his image. Even though he is committing suicide, a rampage killer wants to leave an impression by killing others. The heavy reporting and attention given to mass killings somehow plays into this. I don't know if it perpetuates it, but the young men who kill are very aware of others who have done so. Each killer wants to outdo the last one...
